Kudos to Me -- Now with Ph.D.

Hello Bret fans. Today I passed my oral exams and defended my dissertation. One usually doesn't do both at the same time, but I received special permission.

By the way, I don't recommend it. There's a reason to do oral exams one day and the dissertation defense a few months later...

The good news is, I'm done, and will officially graduate in December. And if anyone wants to plan a big party, let's shoot for May 09 in Oxford, Mississippi. That's when I'll get to walk through the graduation ceremony.

Oh, and that's a picture of Mark Twain. He received a few honorary degrees, and he loved to walk around in his graduation get-up. Maybe I should continue the tradition??

    Let me be one of the first to offer my congratulations. I know that a few months ago you thought this seemed almost insurmountable. Even I, who has always thought you could do almost anything you set your mind to do, was not sure you would set your mind to do this. I want you to know how happy I am that you have done it!I think this is the highest degree that any of the descendants of my known ancestors has achieved, and I think only your Uncle Ralph on your mother's side matches it.

    I, too, echo the kudos of your father, Ramon! I also believe you should walk around a la Mr Twain, at least once a month to the office and around the house, just to remind yourself of all the excellent work and hell you went through and to remind others that you are "DA MAN"! Hey, don't waste the threads, man!

"Digging for the Truth" Experiment #4 -- The Federalist Radio Hour

I first heard of Sean Davis last week. He created an online magazine called The Federalist in 2011, and he currently has about 500,000 followers on X.  It was about last week that he posted something amazing. He suggested if the Supreme Court doesn't rule the way they should, not only should Trump just ignore the ruling, if they keep obstructing the administration, he should just dissolve the Court altogether.  And I thought, wow. "Digging for the Truth" Experiment #1 - Real Coffee with Scott Adams

I've been curious about how others perceive reality. What is "true" and "real" to me is not necessarily "true" and "real" to others.  First stop: Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert.  He's currently 67, does a daily podcast called "Real Coffee with Scott Adams" which draws about 30,000 listeners on YouTube, with 172,000 total subscribers to the channel. Podcast is also available on all the usual places, with a 4.4 rating on Apple Podcasts. Each episode is about an hour long, or a little less.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15SFbr2vj8c 1.
